Santa Fe Indian School teacher David Miles, contestant on “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,” gives a shout-out to the reference librarians at Santa Fe Public Library’s South Side Branch who helped guide his preparation for the show, according to this ABQ Journal article.

The episode featuring Miles airs on October 10th.

Farmington’s Daily-Times reports that Kyla Johnson, a librarian at Farmington High has been awarded a Fulbright Distinguished Award in Teaching grant by the J. William Fulbright Foreign Scholarship Board to spend four months conducting research in the United Kingdom.  Congratulations Ms. Johnson!

Lola Delaney, librarian at Hermosa Middle School in Farmington, recently found a box of letters written by eighth graders in 1967 to eighth graders in 1987. Read the full article in the Daily Times and browse the photos.

The Albuquerque Journal  reports on the exhibit Enchantment: A Collaboration of the SCBWI-NM Writers and Illustrators that is currently up at the Los Griegos Library in Albuquerque. The show features local writers and illustrators who are part of the New Mexico chapter of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators. For this exhibit, the usual process was revered: the illustrators created the illustration first, and the writers wrote text to accompany it.

The Albuquerque Journal reports on a donation of more than two dozen pieces of art – much of it related to the Santa Fe Railway that once ran from Magdalena to Socorro – donated by local rancher and entrepreneur Darrell Pettis.
